Dave Towe, manager of the San Diego area store for Recreational Equipment Incorporated, sighed as he read the morning paper. The article made public what Dave already knew: REI was seriously considering relocating the location of the San Diego store. He knew that moving the store out of North Park area would probably lead to a lot negative publicity. Yet despite this, and a member of other obstacles to relocating the store, REI’s management had concluded that they could no longer afford to keep the store where it was currently located.
